Let me start with a disclaimer: a work out for me is a warm up for you. Please don’t think I am bragging!

This morning as I was exercising, I told God (in my know-it-all fashion) that I would never love exercise. Before I finished the thought, He reminded me that I could not have done what I was doing at that moment, a year ago.

It was a sobering thought. We have to appreciate what we have. Often, what we have was given to us in answer to prayer. The job we complain about pays the bills that we asked God to help us pay. The car that we want to replace because we want a newer fancier version, it gets us to that job. The furniture that looks so shoddy to us after visiting a friend’s house, God enabled us to get it in the first place.

It is a part of the American DNA to want more, bigger and or better. But it is not a part of our Christian DNA. Our Christian heritage encourages us to be content in all situations (Philippians 4:11-13.) I realize that Paul wrote Philippians and that he had a special relationship with God. Maybe you think that Paul could be content in all things and he didn’t even have to try. NOT AT ALL! Romans 2:11 tells us that “God is no respecter of persons”. If we quote this verse when we want a blessing, we can surely quote this verse when we are wanting to be stronger Christians. Just sayin’! Being content in all circumstances was possible for Paul and it is possible for you!

One final thought: being content doesn’t mean that you don’t get to strive for better or even pray for better. It just means you are not going nuts while you wait.

As for me and loving exercise?  Well, maybe I will grow to love exercise, maybe I won’t…. but I won’t be forgetting that the ability to get up every morning and torture myself, is indeed an answer to my prayer.

Love you and pray that you have a Jesus Blessed Day!
